Cool Weekly or Dayly updated quests?

I love to spend time with friends ingame, and questing is one of the most fun parts of PvE playing. even if the reward is no biggie, it's fun to have a goal and you will feel like you acomplised something if you did it.

The thing i came to think of is that you could introduce a/a few fulltime positions at ArenaNet just for desgning dayly, weekly or monthly updated quests in all scales. A quester hall of fame with ratings etc could also be possible...

I dont know how hard it would be (technically) to update an ingame NPC with some text, directions, commands etc. Just coming up with ideas for quests isn't that hard if they are of the standards that they are today. Dayly updated miniquests for unique items, gold, upgrade components etc should be fairly easy to set up using only the stuff only available in game already.

Weekly quest should require more involvement, greater rewards and be much harder to do. The longer quest itseft should take at least 10 hours for a casual player to complete. If he don't wish to complete it all in a day, he could make parts of it with different teams at different occations.

An unanounced NPC anywhere on the map could have some information about the quest to make it start. This would require some casual exploration with your friends finding these quests. And people who finds this mysterious guy should not tell anyone but their closest friends about him, becouse there is an additional reward for finding him first, and an additional reward for completing the quest first. Probably some kind of point system wich places you or your team/guild on a hall of fame, or maybe an extra uniqe item. Completing the quest within the timelimit of a week is necesary, if you fail = no reward.

Since when you enter a mission or the wilderness, the map is unique for your team. Couldnt there be quests related to all parts of the world regardless of their level? why not let higher level monsters spawn in the starting zones around ascalon during these quests? The world is fairly large enough for a huge variety fo scenarios. The quest itself could require you to travel to many parts of the world.

As you are doing a part of a quest in a particular zone you should be required to walk the distance to the closest town and not use the map to travel after you done the part. This to prolongue the effort and make it slightly harder. Entering a zone with this quest selected you have to be sure that you have a good ammount of time and a good team that you can count on to complete it.

The quest itself could gradually increase in difficulty, making it possible for your guild to assign lower level characters to do some parts and and another team to do one part. Every part has it's own small reward so no-one goes emty handed.

Rewards and Quest items should not be able to be traded, or sold. There should be some guild specification on the item, making it the property of your guild, and you are able to hand it down to other guildmemebers if you have something better already or get something better later. (This would also encourage guilds to do the quests among their selves or with allied friends of other guilds)

The quest itself should not require a larger scale guild. You should be able to do it with friends from other guilds too, or even some parts with henchemen.
The hand down option is a thing that could inspire guilds to do more things together. Even if you are lower level, doing a part and being recognized for that can make you inherit nice unique items from other players in the guild.

I wouldn't mind spending a few hours per week volontaring and contributing in any way to be able to play updated quests like this.

... any thoughts anyone?

It takes whole teams and a fair amount of time to make even simple quests.
I would like quests to be added more often, i agree, but a simple quest isn't really "simple" to make.

OP, you know the family ties quests, the ascalon settlement quest and the mantle quest in temple of ages? They were added after release...just like the titan quests were added more recently. >They do add quests when they have the time

Give ArenaNet time and i'm sure we could see more soon but they are pretty busy with Chapter two at the moment and i would rather see all their efforts injected into what should be a great expansion!
It could well end up being as large as Chapter one!

A little bit of fun can be found between you and a friend.

Go to D'alessio with a friend and head to the Tengu to the North. Tell your friend to collect 10 scalps from the tengu and you will reward him.
It should be great fun seeing him die all the time.

Switch roles too, or change location.

Your title says it all.
With Anets streamline updating abilities this seems like how things almost should be.

Im not sure as the the amount of development work it takes to create a single quest.
But If it can be done in manangable times, even weekly updated and dynamic quest would be a GWs specific treat.

good thought.

I agree.. maybe it's too time consuming, but what about creating a tool to ease up the creation of these quest.. some parts could be randomly genereated. using specific elements. Creating an engine such as this would certanly take some time, but make the whole quest creation process easier. i think they have enough players and capital to make it possible though... Keeping players after they finished all what the game has to offer is harder though ... only to have them return after an major update update or a new part, if they not bored already...

Even NPC's in cities that gives you randomly generated quest, going from point a to point b would be nice =) some kind of extention to the "collectors"
